rhythms of fordsburg (2021)
Through its distinctive soundscape, Rhythms of Fordsburg (2021, 1’’9’’’) hints at cultural influences in the area, that are layered and mixed. The video experiments with hands at play and at work: making paan and laffa, and participating in games like Bao and cards.

I LEFT EVERYTHING THERE (2020-2021)
The work looks into the dynamic between former and present residents of Mayfair and Fordsburg, exploring their experiences of displacement. Some experienced forced removals during the Group Areas Act, and others moved from their original countries for various reasons.
rose-tinted lenz (2021)
Rose-tinted Lenz (2021, 1’’20’’’) is an installation featuring the daily commute between Lenasia (“Lenz”) and central Johannesburg. It is a personal reflection on a common South African experience: that of straddling two or more vastly different environments.
Thinking through these topics began as part of a multimodal practice-research effort towards a BA(Hons) Fine Art in 2019.
