do you remember camota?
A collaborative short film made with Theatre Director and Writer Jamil Luzuriaga
Do You Remember Camota? (2024, 3’40’’) invites viewers into an intimate world where love grows quietly, in the dark. Long-forgotten sweet potatoes sprout into little plants in a shared kitchen cupboard. Two roommates discover them - sparking one to share the story of Camota: a sweet potato her parents once similarly discovered. The simple story delicately explores themes of mundane magic, expressions of parental love, and intergenerational storytelling.

If It Grows, It Grows (2021, 1’) is a short film which shares a perspective on caring for plants, which reveals a greater philosophical outlook around balancing effort and surrender. The short film is based on words shared by one of my grandmothers whilst in the garden, and overlays footage of her garden with footage of my other grandmothers’ hands.
